The Echidna Is A New Anamalz Introduction. He Is Not In Stock Yet But Will Be Very Soon. Pre-Orders Are Being Accepted. He Is Otherwise Called The (Spiny Anteater.) Characteristics: Echidnas On Occasion Are Referred To As Pin-Cushions On Legs. Its Back, Sides And Tail Are Covered With Strong Pointed Spines, And It's Belly Is Covered With Soft Hair. The Long Pointy Spines Are Its Only Form Of Protection. If It Becomes Scared Of Other Animals It Has The Capacity To Roll Into A Ball Of Spines And Other Animals Will Shy Away. Height & Weight: Adult Echidnas Vary In Size From 35 To 53 cm. Males Weigh Approx. 6 Kilograms, While Females Weigh Approx. 4.5 Kilograms. Where They Live: Echidnas Reside Exclusively In Australia And Are Usually Found Among The Rocks In Hollow Logs And In Holes By Tree Roots. During Rainy Or Windy Weather They Often Burrow Into The Soil Or Take Shelter Under Bushes And Tussocks Of Grass. What They Eat: With Their Keen Sense Of Smell, The Echidna Uses It's Long Hairless Snout To Scout Out Food. Termites And Ants Are Their Favorites. After Finding Food It Catches It's Prey By Utilizing Its Long Sticky Tongue. Because It Has No Teeth, It Grinds Food Between Its Tongue And The Bottom Of Its Mouth. Echidnas Are Good Swimmers. Baby Echidnas Still In The Pouch Are Called Puggles. An Adult Echidna Tongue Can Extend Up To 17cm In Length And Is Great For Picking Up Termites.
